About the author…

Peggy Knight, long-time companion to Johnny Cash, his wife June, and Mother Maybelle Carter for more than three decades, shares the wonderful memories of living and working with the country music icons and close friends who treated her like a member of the family. Peggy Knight, a native Nashvillian, met Mother Maybelle while playing bingo at the Inglewood VFW club in 1967. This chance meeting began a life-long friendship with the mother of country music that evolved into a 33-year relationship with the Carter and Cash families.
